In investing, just as in life, in order to move forward, you must continuously evolve yourself. Whether it’s learning a new skill, sharpening tools you already use, or simply looking to gain more knowledge. Self development never stops. In the age of AI, if you’re not progressing, you’re allowing yourself to be left behind.
What I am sharing is nothing new. The wisdom of continuous self improvement has been passed down for ages. Sun Tzu says: “Do not repeat tactics which have gained you one victory, but let your methods be regulated by the infinite variety of circumstances.”
In war, relationships, or your job, what got you to your current position will not necessarily take you to your next destination. The tactics you used to persuade your significant other to marry you will not be the same tactics to keep the relationship lively. And in our case as Muslim (or ethical) investors, doing the same thing we have always done, avoiding the stock market because of our negative perception makes us fall behind. You cannot simply attain your financial goals just by your salary alone. Even if you are a physician or have a very high paying job, just saving your income in cash or investing in one domain only will not help you attain the peace of mind and financial security you seek. We tend to encourage people to be their own boss and have ownership in a business, and in the same breath people avoid the stock market, not realizing that buying stocks in a company means you are a business owner.
With that said, I want to reiterate the importance of evolving our avenues for investment and money making. We must be able to form to our environment (without sacrificing principles) like water takes shape of whatever container it’s in. Sun Tzu says: “Water shapes its course according to the nature of the ground over which it flows; the soldier works out his victory in relation to the foe whom he is facing. Therefore, just as water retains no constant shape, so in warfare there are no constant conditions.”
“He who can modify his tactics in relation to his opponent and thereby succeed in winning, may be called a heaven-born captain.” In addition to water shaping its course on the ground its flowing on, water also cuts through rocks. We as Muslim (ethical) investors will also cut the rock that is the stock market and ensure that we only flow over ground that is halal. We can no longer make excuses to why some people get ahead and we don’t. Our parents or grandparents may have had difficulty knowing what to invest in, or how to even buy stocks/ETFs to begin with, but in 2026 we have no excuses to say we didn’t know. The information is there. The knowledge is accessible. What we need is the mindset of always evolving. The foe we are facing today is different. I will even go as far as to say that modifying your tactics to your current opponent (a system built to keep people in debt) is a moral duty. Our minds tend to think obligatory worship is only prayer, zakat, etc. but what about being a good steward of the money and opportunities Allah has given you? Is it not a shame to be alive in this day and age but act as if you have no power to act on these opportunities? This is where investor clarity comes in. We help you take advantage of the opportunities you have in life. We take information and knowledge to develop the tactics needed to take action. And if you’d like, we can be your ongoing partner to continuously adapt to the ever changing conditions of “war”.
I will end this article with one of my favorite duaas:
اللَّهُمَّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا، وَعَلِّمْنِي مَا يَنْفَعُنِي، وَانْفَعْنِي بِمَا عَلَّمْتَنِي.
Oh Allah. Increase me in knowledge. And teach me that which will benefit me and benefit me with that which you teach me. Never stop learning. Never stop evolving. In matters of your dunya and especially for your akhira (afterlife).
Thank you for reading. Keep searching forward.
